Japan’s Lady of Eternal Youth

In Japan, there’s a lady who looks like she couldn’t be a day over 20.  Masako Mizutani’s actual age is 43 and she has two children. Her picture was a viral hit in Japan and is a being dubbed as “Japan’s Lady of Eternal Youth.” Even though most Asians “age slower” than most ethnicities, Masako’s beauty stands out clearly from her peers.  As shown in the pictures below, her skin looks health, soft and most importantly, flawless.

Emperor Penguins - Escape Velocity

Aside from being clumsy on land, when underwater, penguins are highly maneuverable and can reach speeds of up to 18 feet per second underwater allowing them to evade predators with ease. How do penguins do this?

The secret is locked away in their feathers. They have a dense feather coating not only for heat insulation but for packing air inside. The dense feather layer contains a main stem and smaller downy feather-barbs branching off allowing for tiny air bubbles to be trapped. When the penguins want to increase their speed, they simply release the air bubbles (with muscles attached to the feathers) creating a friction reducing pocket around them nearly tripling their speed.

How cool would it be to launch out of water like that at 18 feet/second? I’m not sure I have enough protection for the landing though. Check out the infographic that accompanies the video I’ve linked below.

Smell of Bacon offends Muslims

A café owner in the UK was ordered by planning officials to remove the extractor fan because her neighbour’s Muslim friends felt “physically sick” due its bacon’s “foul odour.”  The neighbour, Graham Webb-Lee, argued that his Muslim friends refused to visit him because they could not stand the smell of bacon. The café owner, Beverley Akciecek, plans to appeal against the decision claiming that regular Muslim citizens that order from her café had no problems with the smell.

McDonalds Employee Assaults Man with Digital Eye Glass

In Paris, Dr. Steve Mann got assaulted by a McDonald manager and two other employees. Steve wears a prosthetic Augmediated Reality device attached to his head that assists his eyesight. He was assaulted because McDonald has a policy against recording devices , fearing competitors may copy procedures to improve business flow/efficiency.

Bacon sandwich cures hangover

What does bacon and alcohol have in common? They are complementary. To all science majors, you would get the joke I just made. Scientists have found out that after a hard day’s work and you start drinking excessively but meticulously, a sandwich with bacon, bacon, bacon and more bacon will help. Bacon contains a high level of unique amino acids which interacts with the body which stimulates a clearer mind. An alternative to not eating bacon is to drink 3L of water right after you’re done drinking so that your hangover is not as intense.
